Course Objective:  to learn painting techniques, have fun and create a modern visual interpretation of stories from the Arabian Nights

Course Description:  An 8 week, one and one half hour session per week that will enable participants to express themselves on canvas with a focus on creating individual painting
(participants are not limited to this subject)

Week 1
Introduction to Acrylic Painting
 *Using and Respecting the Basic Materials 
* Basic Layout/Design
*1001 Nights Stories to choose from

Week 2 - 7
*Design and Layout
*Painting on a 16X20 Canvas
*Painting a 4x8 mural that will be photographed, stretched and exhibited, donated to Al-Awda
*To frame or not to frame? (Individual painting)

Week 8
*Preparing for and installing an exhibition of your painting in the Al-Awda National Headquarters Office/Gallery

Preparation/Materials Needed:

  • One 16x20 stretched canvas (from any art supplier)

Acrylic Paint, Brushes and other incidental materials to use and mural canvas will be provided free of charge

  • Familiarity with a story/stories of the 1001 Arabian Nights prior to reporting to class (can be researched at any local library or book store)
